Christopher Jenkins - Fine Artist
Christopher Jenkins is an American artist who specializes in transportation subjects and landscapes. He has spent nearly 30 years working in the transportation industry, so he is familiar with his favorite subject matter. He paints in a realistic style. His objective is to capture the essence of a scene or a machine, but without distracting detail. In many of the paintings, the artist has worked to create a sense of motion.
The paintings are created using a variety of high quality oil paints, brushes and other tools, including the painting knife.
The artist describes his creative process as follows: ' I begin by making several pencil sketches from different angles and distances. Once I am confident I have a solid plan, I make a more detailed sketch with appropriate shading. Then, working on a colored canvas, I begin painting, usually completing a monochrome or low saturation under-painting first, followed by layers of color, details, and lettering if needed. Because of the multiple layers involved, the elapsed time for a painting can be many months'.
The artist is an associate member of the Oil Painters of America, and an associate member of the International Society of Marine Painters, the American Society of Aviation Artists, the American Plains Artists, and the Allied Artists of America. He is listed in the World Artists Directory and by AskArt.coms Blue Book of American artists.
A painting by the artist and some biographical information was published in the November 2011 issue of American Art Collector Magazine, as part an article entitled 'Moving Masterpieces'.
